Distributed Learning Course Materials
for Regional Educators

In conjunction with the Innovation Frontier Arizona project, the McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship has developed three distributed learning online courses.

The purpose of the project, funded through the UA College of Outreach and the IFA/Wired grant, is to enable educators from southern Arizona to leverage known and accepted principles in entrepreneurship for their students, and thereby dedicate their own resources to building higher tier and other follow-along courses.

Course Overviews

These three courses are available to educational institutions in the four counties of southern Arizona: Cochise, Pima, Santa Cruz, and Yuma.

  1. Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Bringing Goods and Services to Market from Sources of Innovation is designed specifically for those who have an innovation that they want to bring to market — or for those who want to be prepared to successfully apply entrepreneurial principles. This course is geared towards those seeking to start a scalable venture from a discovery, invention, or other innovative source.

  2. Entrepreneurship for Owner-Operated, Lifestyle Businesses: Bringing Goods and Services to Market through Defined Markets is organized as an introduction to entrepreneurial principles for those seeking to develop an owner-operated, lifestyle business in the traditional small-business mode (as opposed to starting a scalable venture from a discovery, invention, or other innovative source).

  3. Existing Firm Growth and Expansion: Using Entrepreneurial Principles to Grow Your Venture is organized for those interested in applying entrepreneurial skills and principles to grow an established business.

These courses, along with the McGuire Podcast Library that is located on the University of Arizona's iTunes U channel will be assets for the region as it works to grow new firms and empower entrepreneurial activity of all kinds.
