Gary Libecap, McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship Director, is a Research Associate with the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and is incoming President of the Western Economics Association International, the Economic History Association, and the International Society for New Institutional Economics (ISNIE).
He also serves on various National Science Foundation panels. As such, he directs the McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship’s research activities to be consistent with the methodology and scientific frameworks represented by these organizations.
He regularly receives research grants from NSF, the Kauffman Foundation, and other organizations. One study with Alberta Charney (2000) sought to quantify the impact of entrepreneurship education on graduates in terms of new venture creation, involvement with new technologies, advancement within existing firms, job satisfaction, and earnings. It was able to draw upon the largest data base to date of entrepreneurship graduates and control groups in assessing the contribution of entrepreneurship education.
