A Message from the Director of the McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship
Welcome to the Chris and Carol McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship, which for more than 30 years has been dedicated to building innovative capacity in individuals, organizations, and society through world-class education and research.
The McGuire Center, a pioneer in entrepreneurship education, continues to be recognized as one of the nation’s elite entrepreneurship centers, offering a variety of educational opportunities that are both rigorous and enriching. Teams of highly motivated students master the conceptual and practical skills needed to turn ideas into ventures, solve real-world problems and serve the needs of real people in society. Undergraduate and graduate students from the Eller College and from across the University of Arizona learn through a combination of expert in-class teaching, intense hands-on practical work, and guidance from dedicated and experienced mentor-entrepreneurs. In the summer months undergraduate and high school students attend entrepreneurship academies on the UA campus and receive concentrated training in entrepreneurial thinking. Many students ultimately choose to launch their ventures. But all the students, those enrolled in the McGuire Entrepreneurship Program, the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Initiative, and the summer academies, complete their McGuire experience equipped with the drive, the understanding, and the practical skills necessary to be innovators and entrepreneurs along whatever path they choose.
Letters From the Director’s Desk
In addition to our educational programs, the McGuire Center supports an array of research programs aimed at developing and disseminating in-depth knowledge about the nature and complexity of innovation and entrepreneurship. Through research colloquia, competitive grants, workshops, visiting scholars, as well as the research of our own faculty, we continue to explore the many ways that innovation and entrepreneurship are collaborative, creative processes with the potential to transform and benefit society.
We hope you will explore our website and get to know our people and our programs. Better yet, we invite you to join us. Be one of the exceptional students from diverse fields of study at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels who share our passion for, and interest in, creating a better world through innovation. Become one of the volunteers or donors who are involved in helping us support entrepreneurial education and research. Or join our network of scholars and researchers from across campus and across the globe who see innovation and entrepreneurship as the keys to unlocking the potential of people everywhere.
