The Big Pitch: A Business Plan Competition

Watch nine student teams go head-to-head in a fast-paced pitch competition. The winning teams take home cash prizes and bragging rights. Come cheer on your favorite teams and vote to help them take home the Audience Choice award!

About the class: Students in ENTR 485 Innovating: Creating the Future - the entrepreneurship capstone course for Eller seniors - team up to build a venture. At the end of each semester, student teams pitch their ideas in class, and the top team from each section is invited to compete in The Big Pitch.


Jan Konstanty
Adjunct Lecturer, Eller College of Management

Jan who was born and educated in England, spent his career his early as a consultant and then researcher at a well-known business school. He has an extensive background in evaluating businesses and markets, developing new products and businesses.  He has held leadership positions in the companies he has worked, responsible for repositioning and building businesses, and has had regional responsibility and worked in many countries.  During his career, he has evaluated numerous institutions and presentations.

Jason Makansi
President, Pearl Street

Jason Makansi is president of Pearl Street (, whose clients range from electric utilities, Fortune 50 global energy firms, growing technology firms, and garage shop inventors. He specializes in technology deployment for the electricity and energy industries. A life-long entrepreneur, he has raised venture capital for clients, assisted in creating partnerships and collaborations, launched and managed a hedge fund focused on the electricity supply and delivery value chain, started up innovative publications in energy and environmental affairs, helped tech-based companies grow in preparation for acquisitions and exits, started up and managed two policy groups to support the grid-scale energy storage business, and launched a publishing company (now managed by his wife and two partners).

Eric Sipe
Owner, Dillinger Brewing Co.

Eric Sipe is a Tucson native and University of Arizona Alum from the class of 2013, graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering and a minor in Spanish. He founded Dillinger Brewing Company along with two of his college buddies in December of 2016 and serves as the General Manager/Managing Partner. He currently lives in Tucson with his fiancee and works full time at his new brewery.

Anne Stringfellow
Senior Lecturer, McGuire Center

Anne Stringfellow is a Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship at the McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship, and is currently serving as the instructor for the top ranked McGuire New Venture Development Program. Previously Dr Stringfellow has served as Academic Director of the Executive and Online MBA programs at Thunderbird (now part of ASU) while teaching marketing and data analysis courses across a variety of programs. She has taught and led student trips in China, Korea, Switzerland, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates. Dr. Stringfellow holds a Ph.D. from the University of Florida, an EMBA from the University of Utah, and a BSEE from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa.
