On December 9, following final pitches by Fall 2014 Entrepreneurship and Innovation (EI) capstone teams, the Jim and Pam Muzzy Entrepreneurship and Innovation Lab was officially dedicated. After remarks from Dean Len Jessup, Interim Executive Director of the McGuire Center Joe Broschak, EI Director Jane Robbins, and Jim Muzzy, the Muzzys were presented with a gift at a reception for students, faculty, staff, and the design and construction team.
"Although I planned this space with the designers, actually teaching in it exceeded my high expectations for its effectiveness as a learning environment," said Robbins.
The first-semester experience using the Muzzy Lab as a space for collaborative learning in innovation and entrepreneurship was also a hit with students, who value the extensive glassboard, flexible furnishings, lighting, and dedicated access, Robbins said. Students summed it up with gratitude in their end-of-course evaluations:
"The new class room was designed perfectly for an innovation class that required students to collaborate with each other."
"I really loved the room. I thought it was a great space to learn and collaborate, in and outside of class. Probably the best room in all of Eller!"
