Sam Williams is a senior executive with 45 plus years of experience in corporate finance as a Chief Financial Officer, in sales as a National and Regional Sales Director, in operations as a Chief Operating Officer and in adult education as an instructor. He raised 3 rounds of venture capital and worked in four start-up and ramp-up companies. One of his companies, Gymboree Corporation, was taken public.
Sam operated his own sales consultancy and trained business-to-business sales teams and sales managers. He taught B2B sales courses over 14 semesters in the Marketing Department at the Eller College. He was the faculty advisor of the Eller Professional Sales Club for five years and executed five invitational sales competitions through which his students regularly received excellent job offers from top tier companies.
As the author of ‘Sales Judo,’ a sales skills newspaper column, he produced more than one hundred articles.
He currently operates the U of A’s Sales Fast Track micro-certification program and co-teaches Sales for New Ventures at the McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship.
Sam attended Princeton University and holds an MBA in finance and a BA in History from Stanford University. While in the US Army, he served in Germany and the Republic of South Vietnam.
He currently lives with his wife, Cheryl in Tucson. They have four adult children and five grandchildren.
